Based out of the Annapolis Yacht Club’s new Sailing Center, this year’s participants experienced all the conditions the Chesapeake could throw at them.

Mission accomplished – Warrior Sailing introduced 21 veterans to the sport of sailing off the docks of the Annapolis Yacht Club’s Sailing Center last week. Returning for their fourth year, Warrior Sailing has trained 84 service members aboard the club’s fleet of J22s. This wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for the generous support of the Annapolis Yacht Club, the AYC Foundation, and the region’s broader sailing community.

As the wet and windy forecast materialized, the Warriors made a call-out for gear; A special thanks is owed to the 23+ members who dropped off jackets, bibs, and boots for attendees to use over the last two days. With gusts between 25 and 30 knots on the final day, the Warriors and their professional coaches made their way up the Severn to experience the full range of conditions. While the conditions proved tough, the veteran community never shies away from a challenge.

With another group of enthusiastic new entrants to the sport, it’s now up to you, our supporters, to keep the doors opens and welcome these Warriors into your local sailing communities. Sail on!
