Nonskid is pretty important – it helps keep us on the boat! Warrior 53’s nonskid deck was in dire need of refurbishment, so we took advantage of a no-wind day for some boatwork.

Boat work is often a slow, dull, tedious process, especially large jobs like painting topsides or replenishing deck coating. What makes it better? Working alongside your friends! Taking advantage of a no-wind day, the crew of Warrior 53′ got to work scraping off the old nonskid and preparing the deck for application of SeaDek provided by High & Dry Boatworks.

A job that normally takes several days was knocked out over the course of 6 hours. Even with the rain, spirits remained high, which goes to show the true power of the camaraderie that sailing brings to the veteran community. Now that the deck is nice and grippy, we’re ready to hit the water for a few more days of training before setting off for the delivery down to Chicago.
